Shinkawa studies...

This are a few attempts at imitating Yoji Shinkawa with a wacom tablet

  1. Reminds me of gray markers. Ever have to use those for your drawing classes?

  2. These are great =) Stylistic studies help SOOOOOO much! I remember about three years ago I felt really stuck and couldn't draw people at all.. I could draw characters and everything in my old style, but I'd grown beyond that and it didn't suffice anymore.

One night on a Christmas visit to some friends, I drew three faces from a Mucha book, and that fueled my style for a full year or more afterwards!

It's kinda daunting how many ways an artist has to practice to keep up with their vision =P

  3. Brian - I use gray marker a little for my tutoring class, but I'm not quite as confident with it.

Ashley - Yeah, every once in awhile I like to deviate and draw like someone else to kind of see things like they do...or a taste of it. Hopefully I can take some of the spirit of it with me.
